We just had the Nunes FISA memo released, Democrats’ response leaked, Steele criminal referral released, and soon the Democrats’ counter memo. But let’s not forget the texts sent between Peter Strzok and his lover Lisa Page.
Evading federal record requirements
According to the text messages released, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were trying to evade federal record requirements, while investigating Clinton’s private email server scandal.
Page: Have a meeting with turgal about getting iphone in a day or so
Strzok: Oh hot damn. . . We get around our security/monitoring issues?
Page: No, he’s proposing that we just stop following them. Apparently the requirement to capture texts came from [Office of Management and Budget], but we’re the only org (I’m told) who is following that rule. His point is, if no one else is doing it why should we. . . I’m told – thought I have seen – that there is an IG report that says everyone is failing. But one has changed anything, so why not just join in the failure.
Obama involved in Clinton investigation?
On February 7, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released an interim report, revealing more info about the investigation and the texts. You can also download them here and here.
We already know that Comey’s original Clinton memo was modified a lot, and now we know more details. On June 30, 2016, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page exchanged the following texts:
Strzok: K. Rybicki just sent another version.
Page: Bill just popped his head in, hopefully to talk to him.
Strzok: Hope so. Just left Bill. Talked about the speech, the [redacted] stuff relating to the case, and what i told you about earlier.
Strzok: He changed President to “another senior government official”.
However, in Comey’s final statement, even the reference to “another senior government official” was deleted.
On September 2, 2016, they exchanged the following texts.
Strzok: Checkout my 9:30 mtg on the 7th
Page: I can tell you why you’re having that meeting.
Page: It’s not what you think.
Strzok: TPs for D?
Page: Yes, bc potus wants to know everything we are doing.
Strzok: l’m sure an honest answer will come out of that meeting ….
